Disability cover

Disability cover allows you to maintain your standard of living and ensures, for example, that you can pay your debts if you become disabled. The benefits paid during the disability period provide significant security for a family in which one of the providers has to stop working.

Cover for disability

If you have debt or are responsible for your family’s financial matters, disability is a risk for your family’s financial well-being. For example, even at its maximum, statutory disability pension is only about half your salary.

The insurance may be granted to a person who has reached the age of 15, and it expires at the latest when the insured reaches the age of 60.

Short-term disability

Short-term disability can be caused by an illness or accident. If you are unable to work due to a disability, you will be paid a daily allowance, after the deductible period has expired, for your disability days up to an agreed maximum compensation amount.

After the maximum compensation amount, an allowance is paid seven days a week for a maximum of 365 days or 730 days, as specified in the insurance contract.

Permanent disability

Permanent disability refers to a permanent disability that is caused by an illness or accident and which is recognised only after the disability has continued for at least one year without interruption.

Permanent disability insurance should cover your debts and your income for two years. Your need for insurance, however, always depends on your life situation. Insurance cover can be modified if your or your family’s life situation changes.

We make a donation to Tukikummit for every new personal insurance policy sold

By insuring yourself you also help others. By purchasing personal risk insurance, you can help to secure the life of a disadvantaged child or adolescent in case of injury. For each new life insurance policy we sell, we will donate approximately 1 per cent of the first-year insurance premiums towards arranging accident insurance. This means that more than 1,000 children and adolescents a year will receive accident insurance.

Mandatum Life works together with the Tukikummit foundation. The assistance granted by Tukikummit supports the children of disadvantaged families in Finland who are in danger of being marginalised for financial reasons.
